The Deutsche Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (German Institute for Development Policy) is one of the world's leading research institutes and think tanks on questions of global development and international development policy. The DIE builds bridges between theory and practice and relies on cooperation in high-performance research networks with partner institutes in all world regions. Since its foundation in 1964, the institute has been relying on the interplay of research, consulting and training. The DIE advises public institutions in Germany and across the world on current issues of cooperation between industrialized and developing countries. 130 employees work at the DIE, with two thirds of them scientific staff. The institute is headed by Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner. Within the framework of its nine-month postgraduate program, the DIE prepares 18 university graduates every year for challenging tasks in international cooperation for sustainable development. In addition, the DIE provides an innovative platform for qualification, knowledge cooperation and policy dialog between state and non-state participants from emerging markets, as well as participants from Germany and Europe: the program Managing Global Governance (MGG). The centerpiece is the MGG Academy, a three-and-a-half-month discussion and training program for young executives.
